May all sentient beings be endowed with happiness and the cause of happiness.
May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the cause of suffering.
May all sentient beings not separate from the true happiness which is without suffering.
May all sentient beings remain in equanimity, free from both attachment to the close and aversion to the distant.”

  • We are still alive:). I'm so sorry for leaving it on ice for almost 3 months. As a matter of fact, there are some things underway. There's one poem called "In the heart" which I have been uncovering/unraveling already since late 2019. At some point, it had 18 verses, but its entirety and structure has been eluding me the whole time. But somehow, I have a gut feeling that it might finally reveal itself soon. Bear with us.

Next, me, Jacqueline and River have been engaging in very interesting discussions - the output of which shall form the next steps in the most recent essay: The haunted house of the mindscape and perhaps even more. It just needs time... hehe. But expect more entries in the near future. So, for now at least 1 new scratch on paper :o).

  • Hello world! It's been a while. Lately, there's been no poetry, and since I've mostly been minimizing my screen time, not much literary work either. We shall see.

In the meantime, I'll be working on a serialized essay called The haunted house of the mindscape (edited: 23/9/24) - which I shall be adding here piece by piece, among others for the aforementioned reasons. However, there is a unique opportunity for you all to become part of the process (more on that inside). Please enjoy and have a wonderful time!

  • Years ago, I wrote a three-part short story called "The Journey", which had arisen from an even earlier script that I had had written for a 10min movie for a friend of mine. The story kinda kept growing on me to the point where I decided to try to write a small novel. Or perhaps, to start writing and see where it goes. After some 3 years of very occasional writing, I seem to be stuck half way through. So, to find a new motivation, and hopefully some new perspective, I'll be making short serialized stories and let's see where it goes ^_^. Btw, there is a contact link in "Credits" - so feedback is more than welcome!:). Let's begin with the prologue.

  • It's been a while since I made a shoutout here. This one might be a bit of a reminiscence. Over the years I've learnt that there are perphaps more readers than I had previously imagined after deciding to revive this humble project from the high school days. First, we used to call it a "discmag", because it would be attached to a monthly gaming magazine which came with a cd containing a few game demos, other utilities, drivers, patches and a readers' section with a load of these creative works. Since this had been back in the 90's and early 2000's, before most people here had ADSL, or perhaps any access to the internet whatsoever, we would create it as a fully offline HTML site, put it on a floppy disc and send by post in an envelope. Imagine that. Back then, 'the adults' would say that we are completely cut off from reality, only caring about playing computer games 24/7. (If only they could imagine what was to come in the following years, hehe...) Nevertheless, most of these magazines were written by exacly these nocturnal "basement-dwelling dorks". Of course, a big portion of the content would be dedicated to video games, hardware, software, and stuff around that. However, not only there were much more than that, but even the computer dork stuff were often written as mostly coherent essays. Lots of the discmags were created by groups of friends of different interests and genders, so there would be many different topics, including book/film reviews, general topic essays (sometimes philosophical ones), fiction stories (some of them serialized), even poetry. It was basically exactly like a paper-magazine, ideal to be consumed from the beginning to the end. Perhaps at a late night hour while drinking tea. Thinking of it now, it seems that the 'primordial force' of creativity is indeed the desire to show off. Its power to overcome apathy effectively makes it the propelant of any culture. Hopefully it'll stand the test of AI...

I was introduced to this text the very same day I met my root teacher 慈雲慧純 (Jiun Ejun) and we would recite it, along with The Heart sutra (coming soon), at the beginning of every practice session. Despite my very low potential in the practice itself, this text has stayed firmly in my memory ever since. PS: this translation is a first draft and will be gradually edited.

Both of them are a bit different from the later "standard" version from 王弼 (Wang Bi) which I have been using. I'm deeply convinced that by comparing the slight differences in the wording one can get even closer to the originally intended meaning.

Working on that too.

  • 2022/2/7: Editorial
  • Happy male water tiger year, everyone. Welcome to this tiny little corner of the internet where almost no roads lead. Hehe. I haven’t been very active around here these days, yet I am working little by little on the Laozi translation and commentary, which kind of seems to hold the most meaning especially in these, to put it mildly, somewhat challenging times.

The thought is, that if we wanna lose weight, have strong and/or sexy body, we must first overcome obstacles of a sweet tooth and laziness, willingly depriving ourselves of unhealthy food, and often undergo hardships in the gym, because we know, that exactly those hardships will be the cause for the body shape and strength which we desire.

However, when it comes to the mind, we sometimes fear and restlessly try to avoid anything that might even suggest an obstacle, hoping that everything will go according to our will and no obstacles will stand in our way. Why?... Why we pay money to be able to endure more and more hardships in the gym, yet we suddenly become paranoid, when there are hardships in our life? So what if you put it this way: “A limited edition break-up procedure deepening your understanding of impermanence and thus minimizing selfishness and empowering patience”? Imagine. Just imagine what would happen when life threw a lemon at you, and without a second thought, without any urge to place the blame, you just picked it up, squeezed its electrolyte into a glass of water, being grateful for the energy? I can only wish from the bottom of my heart that perhaps thanks to the obstacles we have to face, we can learn to become more patient, compassionate and less greedy and not suffer by doing exactly the opposite.

Please have patience, it's a rather difficult endeavour. I will add new bits and pieces right from the oven and gradually polish it with the help from beta-testers, so we can make the final result as clear and eloquent as possible. You are all welcome to watch it grow and evolve, just be aware that it's far from esthetically finished.

  • A very simple and politically incorrect analysis.

  • 2021/3/27: Editorial
  • Solidarity destroys fear. Turning outwards, we seek dangers. Turning inwards forces us to protect the most precious of gems - unconditional compassion. Fear is the fruit of attachment, so let's don't lean on it, let's lean on cause and effect - it never yields to anything. If the causes are right, shelves will be filled and we will appreciate them even more than before. Darkness is absence of light, therefore it cannot be measured. It either is or isn't. What's measured is the intensity of light. Happiness is absence of suffering. Either is or isn't. What's measured is the intensity of suffering. Freedom is absence of limit, therefore outer freedom has never truly existed in the first place. Thus the only way how to imprison someone is to take way their inner freedom and the only way to do that is to make them disregard it. In other words to make us grasp at the illusion of the outer one. If causes and conditions are right, then empty shelves will be filled, things might even return to our Relative "normal" (coz nothing is ever as it was a second ago). If there is a tunnel in a mountain wall, we can pass thru it. But a tunnel - as everything - is fully dependent on causes and conditions, therefore someone has to dig thru the mountain and make the tunnel - stable enough not to collapse etc. Before the tunnel exists, we can try to run the was as hard as we can but will only hurt ourselves. the harder we try to fight consequence, the more we'll hurt. Not everyone is capable of building tunnels, and if we are one of those who aren't - we shouldn't try it coz we'll very well may cause much much suffering. Hence if you really dont know how to build one, the best course of action is to wait till causes and conditions come together and the tunnel exists, while helping others bring their focus from fear to compassion, with ourselves (all of us together) including those poor politicians, making that chaos, coz they are even more confused and thus suffering inside greatly, their wealth is useless for that; with the police - who in best case scenario have no option but to carry out their unfortunate orders, worst case scenario are totally blinded by their own fear and ignorance and hurt others intentionally... If this kind of suffering doesn't deserve compassion, I don't know what does...We are all part of the all-pervasive chain of cause and effect. Let's make as good causes as we can.

  • Hello there! It has been five and half years since the beginning of this little experiment that at first, had been just a little distraction, but then a “serious” idea of a book came by relatively fast. Now, I would like to think that the actual book is in its final stages. It is surely going to take some more time, but I wanted to share this tiny little update with you, especially since there have been no new posts since May. I do have some new pieces still in progress, but in the same time i feel the book’s content should be saturated by now. It is going to be a selection containing mostly the poems from this site, including the four part story called The Journey, and beautiful illustrations by a dear bear-friend mine. So, to all of you my (probably few but) patient readers, I thank from the bottom of my heart. There is not much more to say, other than Be good, make yourself a good cup of and maybe drop by every now and then for some new or old inspiration.

Therefore let's care more about spending it well and less about dreams and illusions of our achievents that are similar to reflections on bubbles. Sometimes a single pinch is enough and they are gone...

  • It's really nice to once in a while have your breath taken away by something that seems like the "true" perfection. To me it happens so rarely, I truly almost forgot how it feels like. Though trust me, the best way for it to stay so perfect, is if it stays in that form. For it all happens within us and sometimes the more we try to confront those "dreams", the less "dreamy" they tend to become... Principles of beauty.

  • Often I leave behind the city and go back to a precious place. This place isn't fix in space - it is rather a quality that you can find every once in a while, when your heart is peaceful and open to the spirits of nature. Then all your questions might be answered, if you listen carefully enough.

  • Let's remember someone of an extraordinary talent for words and underline statements that though often missunderstood and taken as dark, depressive, full of despair, were actually not only very true, but also incredibly full of energy and firmness of the mind, showing us how to fight our inner demons, accept what cannot be changed and thus push the darkness of our own creation away. Give me absolute control, over every living soul and So long, Leonard.

  • It's not the easiest thing to translate a poem from another language, especially when you are the original author... At some point you'll often have no choice but to give up on some aspects of the original meaning, no matter how hard you try. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that you won't come up with some other idea that may make the final product perhaps even more interesting. I shall thusly hope that's what just happened here ^_^. The song of the world #5 (edited: 17/2/21) .

Then there are places where people go for neither money, nor merits. Where people go to recharge their soul. Although the difference is really just within ourselves and those two kinds of places usually are the same, sometimes, they are not. Then just a few people care about their existence and recognize their value. Today I shall tell you of such a place.

  • Our lives are usually full of stereotypes. Mostly, we consider them to be something bad, something that keeps us from enjoying life. Often they are. However, thats not their fault at all. Just take a moment and realize, how many sentient beings have been and will be killed and tortured by knife. And yet, we don't despise knives. I even dare to say the civilization as we know it wouldn't exist without them. Therefore, things are neither bad, nor good in their nature. A tool; a weapon - those are merely images/concepts, created in our brain and heart. The result of their doing is completely our responsibility. Stereotypes are no different. they are tools we can harm ourselves with, as well as tools we can use to achieve inner peace. As soon as the weather allows, my stereotype of this kind is to sit outside, drink and feel the air, the wind, the Sun; hear the birds. One can just wonder, how is this stereotype can keep us from enjoying life:)) PS: The summer comes, The honorable fight.

  • One year and two days ago, the first entry of this version came to existence. What has happened since? Much, nothing, who knows? This is something we have to ask ourselves. Are we better than last year? If yes, are we better to ourselves? Are we better to others? Let's not forget the original aspect of all things. We all move on the highway called Time always towards the future. Not a single thing is excluded from this movement. Let's be sure that we all move on the highway called Life always towards happiness and not a single sentient being is excluded as well.

Every highway requires some traffic rules in order to ensure safety of all its drivers. Every human being requires some knowledge about this Life in order to ensure safety and well-being of everything around. Shall these Short stories of everything reveal a certain piece of it.

  • So, I guess the time isn't slowing at all, because we just changed the digit on the solar calendar and in a month, we are gonna do the same on the lunar one, saying goodbye to the horse and welcoming the goat on the proverbial throne of fortune. Shall we use this opportunity with the upmost effort to better ourselves not in promises, but in actions; not in show-offs, but in generosity; not in smart-ass-ness, but in wisdom. Shall we care for others more than for ourselves, shall we be freed from suffering by awareness and analysis.

  • After sometime I’m sitting once again in a vietnamese tearoom/restaurant that tries to look like inside of a temple, having the traditional 3 buddhas in a row and one more in front of them, surrounded by flowers, incenses, vases and other kinds of offerings. I used to come here since I learned about it, on the day of my 15th birthday, when my mother took me here for lunch. Then I’d return every once in a while to clear my head and relax. Time flies like one big crazy river and we are similar to small leaves just watching the banks go by. Almost 12,5 years later. Now. This ever changing, yet constant moment guiding us through the whole life. It is said, what’s in the past doesn’t exist anymore, what’s in the future, doesn’t exist yet and what is “now” we cannot grasp anyway. Words of the Bodhidharma - 聖意皆空 - a sage's thoughts [are] all Empty. Now I’m sitting here, unwillingly listening to two people talking at the next table, trying to deepen my patience:-).
So, this shall be the first piece of the new english version of this e-magazine I’ve been working on for so many years. And now we’re going on. Looks like leaving the ‘not so great’ world of Facebook and returning to the “old school” way of communicating with others really agrees with me pretty much. Anyway, I don’t really care if I have a lot of readers, or not. This web is perhaps going to be mostly about poetry, cultural or traditional stuff, even some pictures, or occasional stories from time to time. Who knows. Thank you all for your interest and enjoy:-))
